The SIKA Originals Rossini Rattan Armchair has the easy familiarity of a piece that has earned its place over time. Designed in 1993, its graceful curved frame, woven back and finely bound joints give the chair a light visual presence while retaining the strength and character of natural rattan. Handmade by skilled wicker makers from high-quality Indonesian rattan, the Rossini reflects a long tradition of furniture making where material, proportion and handwork remain central. Its gently shaped arms and supportive woven seat make it equally at home around a dining table, beside a desk or as an occasional chair in a relaxed living space.

Key Features

Handmade Indonesian rattan — carefully shaped, woven and bound by experienced wicker makers, giving each chair the warmth and subtle variation associated with a genuine natural material.
Established SIKA Originals design — created in 1993 as part of the collaboration between Knud Andreasen and Japanese designer Yamakawa, with balanced proportions and elegant curved detailing that have given the Rossini enduring appeal.
Comfort with practical strength — the woven seat and supportive rounded back provide everyday comfort, while the rattan construction makes the chair well suited to regular use in both residential and commercial interiors.

Why This Piece Endures

A natural fit for Plantation interiors — the warm rattan tones work particularly well with timber dining tables, linen, aged leather and other honest natural materials.
Light in appearance, substantial in character — its open weave and slender frame keep the chair visually relaxed without sacrificing the detail and craftsmanship expected of a quality rattan armchair.
A design with longevity — rather than relying on decoration or passing trends, the Rossini's appeal comes from proportion, material and traditional wicker construction, allowing it to settle naturally into a home over many years.

Frequent Queries

Is each Rossini armchair exactly the same?
No. Rattan is a natural material, so subtle variations in colour, grain, texture and weave are expected. These differences are part of the character of handmade rattan furniture rather than faults.

How should I care for a natural rattan chair?
Dust regularly with a soft cloth or brush and wipe gently with a lightly dampened cloth when required. Avoid soaking the rattan, strong cleaning products and prolonged exposure to harsh sunlight or excessive moisture.

Is the Rossini suitable for everyday dining use?
Yes. The Rossini was designed with both residential and commercial environments in mind, and its woven rattan construction provides a comfortable, durable seating option for regular use. As with all natural rattan furniture, sensible indoor care will help preserve its finish and structure over time.
