The Davinci Rattan Armchair brings the relaxed elegance of traditional plantation interiors into the home, with its sculptural high back, generous arms and beautifully detailed handwoven finish. Designed in Denmark by Sika-Design and handcrafted from sustainably sourced Indonesian rattan, it has the warmth and character that only a genuine natural material can provide. A comfortable upholstered cushion softens the structured frame, while the strength of solid rattan gives the chair a reassuring sense of substance and longevity. This is furniture made to settle naturally into a home and become more characterful with time.

Key Features

Handcrafted from solid Indonesian rattan — carefully selected for its natural strength and resilience, then shaped and woven by skilled craftspeople using traditional techniques.
Supportive, comfortable proportions — the high backrest, curved arms and cushioned seat create an inviting chair for reading, conversation or simply settling in for the evening.
Made for genuine everyday use — the 100% polyester cushion cover is rated to 20,000 Martindale with colour fastness of 5, combining a refined appearance with practical durability.

Why This Piece Endures

Timeless plantation character — the natural rattan, intricate bindings and graceful silhouette work beautifully with timber, leather, linen and other natural materials, making the Davinci easy to incorporate into layered, collected interiors.
A versatile occasional chair — equally at home beside a fireplace, in a bedroom, conservatory or relaxed living room, where its distinctive form adds warmth without feeling overly formal.
Designed with generations in mind — unlike hollow bamboo, rattan has a solid core that gives it remarkable strength. With appropriate care, the Davinci is designed to remain part of the home for many years to come.

Frequent Queries

Is rattan strong enough for an everyday armchair?
Yes. Rattan is naturally solid rather than hollow and is prized for its combination of strength and flexibility. Sika-Design carefully selects the rattan used in its furniture, and the Davinci is handcrafted specifically with long-term use in mind.

Will the rattan vary in colour and appearance?
Yes. Rattan is a natural material, so subtle differences in tone, grain and texture are expected. These variations are part of the character of genuine rattan furniture and mean that no two handcrafted chairs will be completely identical.

How should I care for the Davinci Rattan Armchair?
For routine care, dust or vacuum the rattan gently using a soft brush attachment and wipe it occasionally with a lightly dampened cloth. Avoid prolonged exposure to excessive moisture or harsh cleaning products. The Davinci is intended primarily for indoor and sheltered interior environments rather than exposed outdoor use.
